Igbos in Kano disown pro-Biafra protest

The Igbo community in Kano State yesterday disassociated itself from the pro-Biafra protests in parts of the country. Speaking at his palace in Kano, the Eze Ndigbo, Igwe Boniface Ibekwe Ide, said the protest was wrong and uncalled for.

For the past two weeks, the pro-Biafra group known as Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and members of the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have been agitating for creation of Biafra state.

The Eze of Igbo noted that those pursuing the issue were not born when the civil war took place.
