Governor Wike Sacks His Media Adviser

Multiple sources in Port Harcourt on Friday told a blogger (name withheld) that the embattled governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has fired his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah.

Sources say Governor Wike was afraid that the attack against the Judiciary by Mr. Inko-Tariah, who was quoted as saying the Supreme Court judgement which did not favour Wike was a judicial gang-up, could backfire in subsequent cases. He was left with no choice but to terminate his appointment.

Mr. Inko-Tariah is someone I worked very closely with for some years in Port Harcourt and I wish he had exercise a bit more caution in the discharge of his duties, with a view to building his political career.

Anyway, while reacting to his supposed sack, Mr. Inko-Tariah was said to have told a local radio station on Friday in the city morning that he resigned from the Wike-led government and not sacked.

He reportedly claimed that Wike refused to release funds to his office and he also ignored his counsel.
