British Grandmother On Death Row In Indonesia, Writes As She Faces Possible Execution In Indonesia Within WEEKS

A British grandmother on death row in Indonesia has thanked her supporters for their 'touching' messages of love - as she faces possible execution within weeks. Lindsay Sandiford, 59, released a letter via her friend, Denise 'Dee' Stepo, yesterday, describing how she is 'overwhelmed' by the global support she continues to receive.

She said she the past week has been a 'good' one - despite reports she could be among the next batch of convicted drug smugglers executed by firing squad in Bali.

Lindsay, from Redcar, Teesside, has been on death row since December 2012 after she was caught trying to smuggle 3.8 kilograms cocaine onto the island.


In the letter, she writes: "Dear friends and supporter, this week has been a good week. I am delighted to see my good friend Dee.

"Was lovely to have her here albeit the time has been short.

"I also wanted to thank you for your messages of love and support.

"I am overwhelmed with your kindness. I want to say a massive thank you to all my Indonesian friends and supporters I am amazed by your caring. This has really touched me.

"Please feel hugged, much respect, Lindsay."

The killings are apparently set to go ahead 'within weeks' following a one-year break.

“Everyone is ready, including prison officials,” a Central Java police spokesman told the Jakarta Globe.
