Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State reportedly rewarded each member of the victorious Federation Cup 2015 winning Akwa United with two million naira and a residential apartment in the state capital. This was disclosed by the governor on Monday evening at the banquet hall of the government house during a reception to honour the team.
Akwa United defeated Lobi Stars to win the 2015 Federation Cup title - their first ever major domestic trophy and also qualify for next year's Caf Confederation Cup.
In his remarks, the Akwa Ibom governor, praised the team's dedication, discipline and determination to have won the first national title for state under his administration. Four coaches and 35 players were rewarded but it seems the backroom were left out as they were not mentioned.
