Father Virgilo Elizondo, 80, Mexican Roman Catholic Priestwho was accused of molesting an orphan over 30 years ago is dead. Elizondo, who is also a professor at the University of Notre Dame reportedly shot himself inside his San Antonio home on Monday, March 16, 2016.
According to Daily Mail, the Bexar County Medical Examinerconfirmed that the priest died from a “single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head”.
The orphan, known as ‘John Doe’ alleged that the priest molested and tried to kiss him. Elizondo denied the claims and stated that it has no basis. Elizondo was awarded the Laetare Medal in 1997.
